Introduction

The Trust is extremely proud to have given many children and young people an opportunity to progress and have often provided a 'stepping stone' to their success. We have supported over 370 grant opportunities since the Trust was founded in 2004, with over £140,000 has being invested in grants to date.

You can read about some of our recent beneficiaries on our Success Stories page. Other examples of the many grants the Trust has awarded include: training sessions for a 14 year-old gymnast who went on to compete at national level; a young single parent on income support to complete at Level 3 International Dance Teaching Qualification, which led to a career; and a 17 year-old leaving the care system to purchase an apprenticeship toolkit.

With your support we can help many more children and young people in Salford achieve their ambitions, whether it’s through training, support for essential equipment or by enhancing their lives by giving them an opportunity to do something they wouldn't normally be able to.

Making a donation

Individuals

Regular donation: Giving on a regular basis helps us plan ahead in the knowledge that funding will be available.

Single gift donation: Alternatively we would welcome a single gift that should you prefer can be earmarked for a specific cause, e.g. a sporting opportunity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does my money go?

100% of your donation goes directly to giving children and young people in Salford an opportunity to develop a hobby, interest, talent or skill.

How can we be sure our donations will have an impact?

Given Salford’s ranking as the 22nd most deprived local area in the national Index of Multiple Deprivation there are many families and young people facing hardship in the City. The Trust is aware that often a relatively small amount of financial support makes a huge difference to the quality of life and life chances of a child or young person, we are keen to ensure that those young people with talent and aspiration are given the opportunity where possible to develop.

To ensure that the Trust has achieved what it intended and its funders’ investment is being used wisely, we give priority to those that can demonstrate that family poverty limits the opportunities available. This is not means tested but relies upon the family to highlight why they cannot fund the opportunity, e.g. single parent, carer etc. We also require the applicant to provide two referees, who should be willing to support the applicant to make the most of their opportunity and source the information required for their application. We contact beneficiaries and their referees after the opportunity has begun, to determine progress made (for example a musical grade, improvement in performance) and measure the impact of The Salford Foundation Trust.
